4-Star RB Sets Visits to Alabama, Ohio State in March

Santa Ana, Calif. - One of the nation’s top running back prospects in the 2025 recruiting class is getting ready for a busy March visiting two major college football powers. Jordon Davison, a four-star recruit from Mater Dei High School, has scheduled unofficial visits to Alabama on March 23rd and Ohio State on March 27th according to his recent comments.

The 5'11" 205-pound back has been highly coveted by coaches around the country ever since his breakout freshman season. With a rare combination of size, speed and vision, Davison is the prototype for the modern workhorse back that every program craves.

“I’ve been to Bama before and always enjoy it there,” Davison told reporters. “It’s a great school and even with the new staff, I still feel really comfortable there with everyone and already have some great relationships built.”

The Crimson Tide have made Davison a major priority in their 2025 class despite the recent coaching turnover. New head coach Tommy Rees and his staff have made an extremely favorable impression so far on the West Coast standout.

“I really like Ohio State a lot too,” Davison added. “This will be my third visit I think but I really like how they play and run the football. They’re losing a couple running backs after this season so I think the opportunity to step in and play early is a big plus there.”

The Buckeyes have made a national name for themselves in developing NFL-ready running backs under head coach Ryan Day. With TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams set to depart after the 2023 season, there will be a wide open competition for the starting job that Davison could have a legit shot at earning early.

From his comments, it’s clear that Alabama and Ohio State have emerged as two of the clear frontrunners in Davison’s recruitment at this stage. However, he also has taken recent visits to other programs in hot pursuit like Oregon, Texas and plans to take several more trips in April before trimming his list.

“I don’t have any official visit dates set yet but I have a good idea where my visits will be,” Davison stated. “I know I’ll visit Ohio State, Texas, Oregon and Bama. After that, I don’t know but I have time to figure it out.”

Davison was highly complimentary of each of those programs and what they bring to the table. About the Ducks, he said: “I was just at Oregon and had a great trip. Then have a lot to offer as a program and I’m really comfortable with the coaching staff. I also think I can go in there and make an immediate impact and that’s important to me.”

Regarding Texas, it’s clear the Longhorns have made Davison one of their offensive priorities: “I think I’ve been to Texas about six times so far. It’s a great school with great tradition and they’re going in the right direction right now. I love the coaches and have a great relationship with Sark and Tashard Choice.”

While Davison claimed to not have a single leader at this point, calling it “a tough decision for sure because I kind of go back and forth in my head,” he did reveal a timeline for making his commitment.

“I’m planning to commit in the summer before my senior year is here,” he revealed.

That will allow him to take official visits in April and May and thoroughly vet each finalist before pulling the trigger on what will be one of the most intensely recruited running back prospects in the 2025 cycle.

This diamond-in-the-rough recruit from Southern California will have a potential program-changing decision ahead. But for now, Davison’s focus is on closing out his junior season strong and preparing for the two major trips lined up to Alabama and Ohio State over the next few weeks.
