DeMar DeRozan Drops 34 in Bulls' Heartbreaker vs Knicks

In a high-scoring affair at Madison Square Garden, DeMar DeRozan put on a show for the Chicago Bulls, pouring in 34 points against the New York Knicks. However, his herculean effort wasn’t enough as the Bulls fell short, 128-117.

DeRozan was a one-man wrecking crew, displaying his full offensive repertoire to torch the Knicks’ defense. He knocked down mid-range jumpers with surgical precision, attacked the rim with reckless abandon, and even stepped out to drill a triple. When the dust settled, DeRozan had stuffed the stat sheet with 12-22 shooting from the field, including 1-3 from downtown and a 9-11 performance at the charity stripe.

“He’s been unbelievable for us all season,” Bulls head coach Billy Donovan gushed about his star player after the game. “Tonight was just another example of how he can take over a game and impose his will on the opposing team.”

While DeRozan led the charge, the Bulls’ supporting cast struggled to keep up with the Knicks’ balanced scoring attack. New York had six players in double figures, led by RJ Barrett’s 28 points.

For the Bulls, the loss stings even more as they continue their push for a spot in the Play-In Tournament. With just a handful of games remaining, every contest is crucial in the tightly-contested Eastern Conference standings.

DeRozan, however, remains defiant. “We’re still right there,” he said. “We’ve got to keep fighting, keep competing. If we play with the same intensity and urgency we had tonight, I like our chances.”

The four-time All-Star has been a revelation for the Bulls this season, seamlessly slotting into the leading scorer role and providing valuable veteran leadership. His scoring outbursts have been a regular occurrence, having now scored 30 or more points in three of the last four games.

As the regular season winds down, the Bulls will need DeRozan to maintain his scorching form if they hope to extend their campaign into the postseason. With his mid-range mastery and unwavering confidence, DeRozan seems more than capable of shouldering the load.

For now, though, the sting of this loss will linger. But with DeRozan at the helm, the Bulls have a chance to quickly reset and refocus their efforts on the games that lie ahead – games that could define their season and determine their playoff fate.
