Elite 2025 SG Sanon Narrows Choices, Eyes Fast-Paced Style

Joson Sanon, one of the nation’s elite shooting guard prospects in the class of 2025, has whittled down his college choices to a half-dozen prestigious programs. The 6-foot-5 junior from Vermont Academy revealed his top six schools are Arizona, Boston College, Connecticut, Kansas, Kentucky, and Overtime Elite’s professional pathway.

Ranked as the No. 11 overall recruit in the 2025 class by the On3 Industry Ranking, Sanon had previously considered Georgia, Indiana, Louisville, and Providence before trimming his list. With a basketball player’s build and a smooth shooting stroke extending well beyond the three-point arc, the Vermont native is a tantalizing prospect for coaches seeking a dynamic scorer on the wing.

“I’m scoring a lot better on the ball now,” Sanon told On3’s Jamie Shaw. “I’ve heard some people say that I can only score off the ball, so now I am starting to bring out my mid-post game and scoring with the ball in the game. I’m watching a lot of Demar DeRozan and how he likes to get to his middie, and keep attacking.”

While Sanon’s scoring prowess is undeniable, he’s also focused on finding the right stylistic fit at the next level. “The environment around the school will be big for me,” he explained to Shaw. “I am going to look closely at their play style. I like to play fast, use ball screens, and move the ball. And I like how we play here at Vermont Academy.”

Shaw offered a glowing scouting report on the talented two-guard: “Joson Sanon has a basketball player’s frame, with long arms and wide-set shoulders. His pace is excellent, Sanon is never rushed with the ball. At 6-5, he has a pure jump shot with range beyond the arc. He is comfortable shooting off the bounce or the catch, keeping his mechanics consistent throughout. Sanon is a good athlete with explosion and burst. He has the upside to be a good defender, both on and off the ball. Sanon has a solid handle, comfortable getting to the midrange off one and two dribbles. Sanon is tracking among the top in his class.”

With a keen eye on finding an up-tempo system that complements his diverse scoring repertoire, Sanon could be an impact addition for any of his remaining suitors. He’s already taken an official visit to Arizona and made unofficial trips to Connecticut, Boston College, and Kentucky, providing a first-hand look at some of the potential destinations.

As the recruitment process intensifies in the months ahead, all eyes will be on Sanon and where he ultimately lands. His combination of size, skill, and a team-oriented mentality could make him a pivotal piece for whichever program lands his commitment in the 2025 cycle.
