NFL Draft Rumors: Maye vs McCarthy, Bills' WR Target, Jets' TE Interest

As the 2024 NFL Draft approaches, rumors are swirling around some of the top quarterback prospects and the teams that may be targeting them. Two names that have been prominently mentioned are Drake Maye from North Carolina and J.J. McCarthy from Michigan.

According to reports, the New England Patriots seem to have Maye higher on their draft board compared to McCarthy. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler mentioned that sources indicate the Patriots have LSU’s Jayden Daniels as their top-rated quarterback prospect, followed by Maye and then McCarthy.

However, there is speculation that Patriots owner Robert Kraft may have a preference for McCarthy, given the team’s previous success with a quarterback from Michigan. The Patriots hold the third overall pick in the draft, and there is a belief within the organization that they need to come away with a young quarterback.

While the Patriots are considering all options, including potential trade scenarios, the consensus seems to be that they are likely to stay put and select a quarterback at No. 3. Some reports suggest that it would take a “massive offer” for the Patriots to trade down from that position.

Moving on to other draft rumors, the Buffalo Bills are said to be incredibly high on Washington wide receiver Rome Odunze. According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Bills have an idea of what it would take to trade up and select Odunze, but they may not be willing to pay the exorbitant cost required to move up that high.

On the other hand, the New York Jets have been linked to several prospects, including Georgia tight end Brock Bowers and Oregon State offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga. Multiple sources suggest that Bowers is unlikely to fall past the Jets’ pick at No. 10, with some teams potentially looking to trade up ahead of them to secure the talented tight end.

The Jets are also rumored to be interested in Louisville offensive tackle Willie Tyler and have shown interest in Pitt cornerback M.J. Devonshire, who had a pre-draft visit with the team.

As the draft draws closer, these rumors will continue to swirl, and teams will be evaluating their options carefully. The decisions made during the draft can significantly impact a team’s future success, making it a crucial event for every NFL organization.
