In a stunning display of skill and determination, the Tusculum University women’s beach volleyball team made an impressive start at the AVCA Small College Beach Championships in Tavares, Florida. The Pioneers emerged victorious in their first two pool play matches, leaving their opponents in the dust and setting the stage for an exciting tournament.

The day began with a resounding 3-0 sweep over Catawba, where the Pioneers showcased their prowess on the sandy courts. The dynamic duo of Kyla Oppenhuis and Brynn Smith kicked things off with a 21-13, 21-17 victory in the top flight. Hannah Marsh and Riley Rushing followed suit, clinching a 21-13, 21-10 decision at the No. 3 position. Katie McLamb and Charlyn Miller delivered the knockout punch, blowing past their opponents with a commanding 21-11, 21-6 win.

Riding high on their initial success, the Pioneers carried their momentum into the second match against Florida Southern. Once again, they swept their opponents with a convincing 3-0 scoreline. Morgan Browne and Olivia Browne set the tone with a 21-15, 21-10 triumph at the No. 2 flight, while Marsh and Rushing continued their winning streak, securing a 21-8, 21-12 victory. McLamb and Miller capped off the day with a 21-11, 21-15 result, cementing Tusculum’s dominance on the sand.

Mia Johnson and Morgan Pacione split their matches, defeating Texas A&M Kingsville after a hard-fought battle. Ashley Hall and Morgan Martin secured a thrilling reverse sweep victory over a duo from Erskine, while Kassidy Mercado and Addison Williams triumphed over a Catawba pair before falling to Colorado Mesa.
